Argentina

Shortly after the March planning meeting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs implemented a genocide prevention module in the Foreign Service Institute, which was presented in August of this year for future Argentine diplomats. After various planning meetings between the Argentine ministers on the 27th and 28th of November, 2012 the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Genocide was launched in Argentina, involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense, the Secretariat of Human Rights, the Secretary of Public Communication, the Undersecretary of Institutional Reform and Strengthening of Democracy, and the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism (INADI). This National Mechanism will involve all Ministers and the majority of the actors of civil society for the creation of a national strategy geared towards the prevention of genocide. The launch meeting was organized by the Chancellery and Argentina’s Ministry of Defense, along with the OSAPG and AIPR.
