EL SALVADOR

In coordination with the office of the Ombudsman (Procuraduría) of El Salvador, an initiative has been proposed to establish a connection between the Office of the Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide and Offices of the Ombudsmen to develop an early warning system in Central America for genocide prevention. This working relationship will focus on information gathering and analysis through a genocide prevention lens utilizing the UN Framework for Analysis. This initiative was formally proposed to the Central American Council of Ombudsmen on March 20, 2013 in Panama City, Panama. The Council approved the initiative to establish a Central American Early Warning System, and also decided to participate directly in the Network’s activities as a regional body.
