The Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and the New York City Bar Association invite you to join us at our upcoming event entitled "National Mechanisms for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention: Coordinated National Strategies for Confronting Contemporary Genocide". The event will feature a discussion panel comprised of representatives from Permanent Missions to the United Nations and will be moderated by Owen Pell, a Partner at White and Case LLP and member of the Auschwitz Institute's Board of Directors. The event will be held on February 3, 2016, at the New York City Bar Association on West 44th Street in Midtown, Manhattan, and will include a cocktail reception preceding the panel discussion at 5:30pm. The theme of the evening's conversation will center on National Mechanisms - state bodies that include representatives from different areas of government relevant to the prevention of mass atrocities. Participants will consider the character and configuration of their mandates, compositions, and activities. The discussion panel will also consider the tools and apparatuses utilized by National Mechanisms in the inception, refinement, and implementation of a unified national policy for prevention. Copies of AIPR's publication, National Mechanisms for the Prevention of Genocide and other Atrocity Crimes: Effective and Sustainable Prevention Begins at Home, will be available at the event.
